Default 3000 Mile Trip Report: 2001 A6 2.7 Q

Just back from a nice 3000 mile workout on my fairly new A6. Pleased to report the car ran beautifully during a mix of city, highway and suburban driving. Averaged around 22 mpg with highway speeds averaging about 75-80 mph. At 110 mph the car ran smoothly and quietly. No squeaks, rattles or noises at any speed. It was extremely hot, around 90-100 degrees and the a/c handled it well. Got a lot of good feedback from friends and family we were visiting. They even wanted me to drive the wedding couple to the church "because Brian's got the best car".
A few minor complaints:
1. Oil sensor light came on early in the trip and stayed on for the duration. Called the Audi customer service rep who patched me through to the nearest dealer who said not to worry. Just meant that I was due for a service. Turned out this was not true because when I took it in for my 5000 mile service upon returning home my dealer had to keep the car overnight and order a new oil sensor switch. They had never encountered this problem before. Dealer gave me a loaner and all ended well. Except it's a 200 mile round trip to the dealer and I wasn't planning on going twice.
2. At on gas station when I filled the gas tank I squeezed in an extra bit after the automatic shutoff. It kept filling and filling but when I finally shut it off the extra gas started gushing back out at me. It kept coming and coming with nothing to do but wait until it stopped. Left about a half gallon or so on the ground and all over the side of the car. Big mess. My fault for overfilling, I guess but it's never happened to me in any other car.
3. Not too crazy about the location of the cruise control switch. Very hard to operate as it's hidden behind the steering wheel.
4. Thought there was a way to program the windows to lower automatically to let out the heat when unlocking the car. Dealer informs me that Audi won't let them do it because of the "pinch factor" on the windows. It's a safety issue apparently. Why do they offer it in the first place?
So other than a few minor things I'm really happy with my A6. After driving Mercedes for 20 years I have no regrets about making the switch to Audi.

Nice report. I have topped off both my 2.7ts and never had the problem you described with fuel coming out. If you can find someone with the VAG-COM software/interface ($200 from Rosstech) you can reprogram the locks/windows the way you want. I have mine programed to auto lock the doors and I can raise or lower the windows with the remote.

Default Scroll down on the remote programing. Someone has posted

the copy of the official audi message to dealers (service advisory) that says they can do it one time for free.

And I hate the cruise switches also. Borders on unsafe
