4.2: Any suggestions on chipping?
Im thinking about chipping my 4.2. Only thing I have seen are the GIAC chips for engine and transmission? Any thoughts on whether I should do it or if there is a better alternative? I would like to take the slack out of my tiptronic. Seems to hesitate sometimes while searching for the "right" program.

Re: 4.2: Any suggestions on chipping?
I sent my ECU to Speed Tuning USA. Instead of changing your chip, they "Flash" it to reprogram the stock engine parameters. The technician (Oliver)use to program chips in Australia and actually owns an Audi himself. The cost is approx. $225 and I think it's worth every penny. There is no more hesitation and a definite increase in low end torque.

ECU Chip and Trans Chip are two different things...
Trans chip..GIAC has one www.awetuning.com
speeds up the shifts and the hold of the gears.
ECU chips get into the heart of the engine..

It depends how aggressive you want to get with the tuning, what octane you can get,
and how much fudging of the numbers you want to do ;-) Ask if the North American programs are TUV approved in Germany. TUV certification verifies that the power claim is accurate among other things. You still run the risk of too much advance for a warm day or lower octane gas - it depends if they decrease the sensitivity of the knock sensors in order to get more advance, and therefore for power over the short term.
After all, the S6 gets lots of mechanical changes in addition to new ecu programming, to get just a smidgeon more than this company claims. That's a rather large power bump for a normally aspirated engine.

Yea, it's been out for the VWs for some time.
The delivery is cool, but since you live and die by the programming quality, I guess that is what I would pay the most attention to.
