No - worked with some of these 'new' ideas in the past and..
I must say that even though there has been millions spent on improving the internal combustion engine there has been remarkably little improvement.
Any major improvement have come from better controls (electronics) and measurement of fuel air mixtures. The latest hybrid engines do nothing to improve the efficiency of the combustion engine itself.

In both cases they don't work out for stop and start driving - better for stop and go.
Or maybe steady state cruising, which is the weak point of gas/electric hybrids since there is no regenrative braking happening.
