98 A6Q Control Arm Noise.

I had replaced a sweeking control arm on my 98 2.8Q A4 but my A6 does not sweek it kind of rattles over bumps. The dealer said that it was control arms. Any ideas?

rattles? I have heard creaks, and clunks, but not rattles attributed to control arms..

Could be the strut mount

if all your control arms check out and were properly torqued under load, then i sould suspect worn strut mounts. My strut mounts are making noise.

Just had it changed

I had both my front axles changed and the mechanic noticed that my left control arm was bad. Mine only rattle/clunk when I reverse and go over a bump. Never realized it was the control arm. He showed me the bad one and you can move one part again another (where the bushing is) and make the sound. He should me the new one, clean looking aluminum ($90), and it was firm.
