Default 99 A6Q 2.8l AHA with tiptronic no signal from G182

Has anyone on this forum had a DTC from a tiptronic for the G182 no signal caused by a loose sensor ring on the input turbine shell? I am helping a friend who installed a used ATX from an auction donator 1999 A6Q without checking the TCM for fault codes before disposing of the car. This A6Q will run and drive but the ATX slams into default mode after moving a short distance. The G182 sensor has been replaced with a new sensor and the TCM has been replaced with several used known "good"ones. The fault remains after all the replacements.

Fixed. The wrong model year transmission had been installed with a Hall type sensor for input speed (G182) instead of the induction type used for the 1998 and 1999 model years.

I just ran into this myself. Put '01 trans into my '99.. same symptoms - limp mode after a few seconds :/
My question is this: since I already have it installed, is there ANYTHING I can do to swap the 01's hall effect speed sensor over to the older g182 inductive sensor? I understand they have different mounting locations and therefore read off of different gears/equipment - I believe it was said in order to allow the hall sensor to work properly, you'd need the 01's tcm to communicate with an 01 ecm (which would be dbw, and require a LOT of modification to convert everything over to 01).. so my question is - what would it take to convert the transmission over to run the inductive type sensor? Since I have a dead trans I just pulled, I have any & all parts @my disposal IF the task is feasible.
Would it require only the bracket/mounting for the sensor, then splice it in/or change the internal harness.. Would changing out the whole valve-body/harness do any justice at all?.. or would it come down to changing out internal gears in the transmission from say magnetic to toothed?
-determined not to have to take on another transmission install!! (This is already my 2nd, first round replaced my junked trans with another junk unit -yay-) So if there's a way to make this work.. ugh, help??

Sorry to revive a 4 year's old thread, but i have the same problem... Ive replaced the automatic gearbox on my a6 year 2000, 2.5tdi , 180hp , and didnt realised that it has a diferent G182 sensor... original gearbox had the hall type sensor, and the one ive changed has an induction sensor.... Isnt there any type of modification available in order to make it run? and read the right data? Ive also thinked about adapting the hall sensor inside there somehow... will that help somehow? will the sensor read the wheel?

Thanks in advance guys!
