A6 Air condition not blowing inside car
I sent the climate control off and had it rebuilt , but it did not help. I still have the same issue. I found a link to the details on how to check the codes on the control unit , but I tried to follow the instructions and they do not work exactly like my unit. The link is https://www.audiworld.com/tech/int5.shtml#Notes52
The instructions say to hold the recirculation button and then press the manual flow up arrow. This does nothing for me, but if I use the temp up button, both sides of the display start rolling differnt numbers. Not sure what this represents? I never seen 1C, but I did see C1. Can anyone help with this one.
Anyway, I think it could be the blower motor inside the car under the dash , but I wnat to test it. is there a way to run power to it to test?
I also read that it could be the external temp sensor, how can I test it?
Thanks
Rick
"If you have the solar sunroof, the "solar separation relay" may be bad... " . Where is this located on a 98 A6 and how do I test it?
Thanks

Also this was the cheapest fix so you should have tried this first.. 15-20 minutes tops to get to the blower motor and take it out..
To test the blower motor take it out and and then connect it to the battery directly.. if it works then there is some other problem and you will need a VAG to troubleshoot. Good Luck.. Also do search the forum as you will get some good advise on this topic
I'm also going out right now to apply power to the blower to see if it works. I will update in an hour or so.
Thanks
Rick
What do you mean " $378 Part and since there is a TSB ask to have Labor Waived" ?
What part are you talking about replacing? Do you have a copy of the TSB that you are refering to?
Ok, I ran 12 volts to the blower under the glove box and it came on and blows ice cold air. Now my task is to find out where my fault is.
I need to identify which relay is the solar panel seperation relay and figure out how to test it. I called the dealer in ATL and they said they have never heard of a "seperation relay" .
Since the blower can be bypassed and it blows cold air , can I eliminate the ambient temperature sensor mounted in the front bumper as a potential cause of my problem?
Thanks for any advice or input

It's marked "385" in one of the relay panels under the steering wheel. Mine had obvious cracks in the solder to the relay--apparently the repeated force of the relay going off broke the solder. My friend who is good at this stuff resoldered everything, and the solar fan works now. Haven't repaired the rest of the system yet, though. I'm officially done with holiday sales after I drop off my last Etsy order and ride BART to SF to deliver a wholesale order to a shop, and then I can worry about non-essential car repairs.
