Default A6 width

The A6 4.2 is supposed to be wider than the A6 2.8. Is the A6 2.7 as wide as the 4.2 or 2.8??

Thanks

Default A4 is higher than A6

I believe A4 is taller than A6 too!

I have the 2000 brouche at home. I will check the spec of 4.2 vs 2.8 tonite.

According to Audi's spec's, the 2.7T, 2.8, and 4.2 are all exactly the same width (76.1"). Visually, however, the 4.2 appears significantly wider, due to the flared fenders. Since the maximum width is probably from mirror-to-mirror, however, it's entirely possible that they're the same.

Note, too, that the official width of 76.1" seems implausibly wide. Other sources (R&T, Consumer Reports) show a width of 73.1" for the 2.8, which sounds a lot more likely.

Any A6 owners out there care to measure their cars and add some actual data to this issue?

After sitting in a 4.2 and a 2.7 side-by-side within a minute of each, the 4.2 subjectively feels wider.

A6 4.2 is longer, wider and lower than 2.7T & 2.8 which are the same body.

As evidenced by the headroom. The A6 looks low due to the raked roof, but it is fairly tall.

All A6's are the same width, except for fenders. Even the Avants are the same. There simply is no way to economically change the width of the car. It requires redesigning too much and creating too many different parts.

The 4.2 is wider if you measure the flares.

Thanks for all the feedback. The A4/S4 is nice just seems a little cramped. The A6/2.7 has definitley more room in the back. But I was confused by Edmunds and Carpoint width #s for the car and various engines.
