Default ABS Sensor problems

Hi, my abs control unit has been diagnosed by my dealer as needing a new control unit at $2800 CDN. I'll shop around to see if I can find a used one... but need to deacitvate my abs warning indicator. How do I do this?
Any insight on this issue and how to resolve it would be muchly appreciated!!!
Thanks,
Robert

Default Skokan or Dad's Audi are both used parts resllers in the US.

Don't know how to switch off the light, and don't think it's a good idea anyway, since you probably don't have EDL, so only part of your QTR system is functioning (assuming it's QTR - traction control effected in a Front Trak).

Default EDL is a joke. I've been running around without it for the same reason as Rob....

and have not noticed a lick of difference. Car can still climb up a cliff, same as always, maybe even better.. I always felt that EDL made it harder for the car to maintain momentum..

Default Try putting one side on a slick surface and the other side on good road and punching it from

a standstill.

Default WTH for? those kinds of tests are why people think BWMs have a good AWD system!

in the real world when all 4 wheels are on teh same slippery surface, EDL is mosly useless. My driveway is steep, I mean REALLY steep. like 100 foot vertical over 300 feet. I have skiied down it. literally. I ahve also driven up it with no running start in 8 inches of slushy snow with ice underneath with little drama.

I dont care if my car can't drive up a road made out of roller skate wheels, because I don't drive on roller skate wheels.

Default In the real world, you can and will encounter situations where

one side of the car will have traction and the other not. EDL is like having insurance. You only really need it, when you need it.

Default Ok, I tried your little test. One side on pavement, one side on snow/ice...

floored it from a stop, got lots of wheelspin on the side on the ice, but, becasue of my tires, I launched hard enough to tip over my camera bag in the cargo area.. This without the 'benefit' of EDL mind you.. All EDL can do is 'try' to slow down the spinning wheel, thereby transferring torque across teh diff. It can only to this in quick bursts though, which in the real world, can upset the delecite balance of traction. I've never had it hinder my forwward progress, never really thought it helped much either...

Can't say teh same for ABS.. I'm much happier without it.

Default Aha! You should have virtually no wheelspin with EDL functioning.

In fact in my demos I could take my hands off the wheel and floor it while the car would go virtually in a straight line.
