Advice Request: Looking to buy used A6
Hey all,
I'm looking to upgrade from my 99Avant to a 2002 A6 2.7t. It's a one owner, just off lease from the local Audi dealer. 75k miles (guy must have been selling something!!!) Sport package, leather, etc. Visual inspection suggests it's been well cared for, and service history shows all maintenance at each 10k interval. Had a local shop peek at the engine, and hook up their Vag-Com. All was good there as well. Y pipe an lower boost hoses look good. It's priced at $21k which according to KBB and Edmunds is a great price. Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on buying one at this mileage, and if the price is reasonable.
I appreaciate any advice. I drive about 125 miles a day so I'll be adding on significant miles to it. Not certified, but I can get a 24/24 extended warrantee for around $1300.

Are you in RI? If so, send me an email. Otherwise...
Biggest issue at that mileage is timing belt, water pump, accessory belt, pulleys, etc. It's a $700 to $1200 job. Throddle body boot, by pass valves and f-hose (if you have one) are also problem spots. It's also wise to inspect front suspension components (control arms and tie rod ends, which also go around that mileage). Tip tranny? Check to see if they changed tranny fluid and filter. Manual tranny? Change fluid. That's all I can think of right now, but send me an email if you wish to discuss.

Would not buy anything past 50k...
If I were you I would buy a 2002 3.0L with 49k and a Audi Certified car. If you do not buy certified you most likely have to put between $2000 to $3000 for an extended warranty like Warranty Direct taking your investment up to 100,000 miles. You want a turbo, get a new one or a return lease with low mileage.
