Great. I beat the crap out of myself... 4 cuts.. Sheesh.. Not even sure how they happened...
the good news is, the oil leaks seem to have been quelled (for now) and the car is WAY WAY quieter than before..
The old pump had a tiny bit of play, pretty much just like your old pump..

A while ago a e-mail contact for complaining to AofA about this very
subject was offered. I dutifly (but politely) complained, saying that this was a safety issue as improtand driver information could not be read. Got a 'phone call from AofA the next day and re-iterated the issue, noting that Audi UK had issued a re-call for the same problem.
Seems like the NHTSA and possible class-action route may be the only way to get AofA to wake up to this problem. The earlier-model TTs are also impacteded by this, and I believe the B5 cars are as well.
Publish your letter and the NHTSA and AofA contact info please!
Keep up the good work,

The warning symobls are part of the MFA in so equipped cars.
If you loose all your oil and your MFA doesn't work, then you could experience a "Unexpected Loss Of Engine Power". Which is a definate saftey hazard
