Anyone gone to replacing HID capsules on a scheduled (maybe 4 year?) basis?
I dunno but what the OEM HID capsules on my 00 4.2A6Q are getting dimmer than when new after 4 years and 61K miles. It seems the 90/100 halogen H4's on my volvo with euro (german) headlights are brighter than the Audi and they didn't use to be that way....
Do they get significantly dimmer? Both appear to be the same brightness....

Both are Xenons and the same part numbers. Granted, I did replace the entire headlight unit, so the picture isn't of just the D2S bulb change. But I don't think the sandblasted/pitted lens made that much of a difference in color and output. Others have posted that the color and output will fade. I believe the life expectancy is 2500-3000 hours, which can be shortened by more on/off cycles.
