Default Good question. I have to check, as I just write technical desriptions for the new website

and do a few other odds and ends for them from NoCal.

Default Butting in here, from what I heard most people are running Mobil 1 0w-30

and 5w-30. drkangl may have found a source for Mobil 1 0w-40 at ~$5 a quart, alot cheaper than the 6-8 bucks at the Porsche Dealer.
I run 0W-30 right now and the tech said the inside of the engine was as clean as when it was brand spanking new. His comment was "I guess the Mobil 1 is doing a great job" : )

Out here at a track you can hit 260-270 degrees oil temps if you run on a 100 degree day for 15 minutes straight, so I think 0w(or 5w)-30 or 40 is fine.

Thanks. Running M1 5W-30, but thinking of going M1 0W-40.

Default I would not track with a 30 weight. too thin for proper heat transfer at sustained high speeds

270 is right at the border of too hot for continuous use. I'd move to a 20w50 for track days, as proper warmup should not be an issue. I would also advise you move to redline or amsoil 2000 as mobil 1 Supersyn appears to be made out of group III compounds now, and is not the true synthetic it used to be.

Default Frank used Mobil 1 0W-40 on his chipped S4...

That's what he recommended; that's what I'm using!

Yup. I'm not sure if he tracks it though.
