I just installed Philips Vision Plus bulbs in my '01 A6 2.8q. These are not the ricey, phony blue bulbs, but a super white halogen bulb that is advertised to give you 50% more light. The pair cost $32.20, plus they threw in a third bulb for free.

I am very pleased with them. The light is crisp, clear, super white, and extends out further than the stock halogen bulbs. They were a snap to install. I recommend them if you are looking for more light for your night time driving. Where in NJ are you? I'm in the Princeton area. I would love to see them for real if possible. Also any installation instructions for the mechanically challenged?

They are a piece of cake to install - took me 15 minutes for both. I am in Toms River (Ocean County). I get out to the Princeton area about twice a month on business. Do you ever come out this way?
