This article was written when we were doing some race prep work on our 2000 Audi A6 Quattro 4.2 V8, for the 2017 Virginia City Hill Climb.

One of the changes requested by our driver was to install front seats with higher side bolsters. All six of our 2000 Audi A6 Quattro 4.2 V8 project cars have low side bolsters. Our sole 2001 Audi A6 Quattro 4.2 V8 car has higher side bolsters, as did a 2001 Audi A6 Quattro 4.2 V8 car we found in a junkyard.

So, we either have an amazing coincidence going on, or starting in 2001, Audi changed the front seats to have higher side bolsters.
