audio advice
I'm looking to make my first real mod on my 99 Avant by replacing the front speaker set up. After scouring the forum, I've learned 6.5" speakers will work up front. Are there any other measurements specs (depth, tweeter diameter, etc.) I should be looking out for?
I'm currently looking at a decision between Boston Acoustics SX60, Diamond Audio M661, Infinity Kappa 60.7 CS, or Polk Audio db6500. I'm deadlocked between them all right now. Does anyone have any opinions on these speakers?
Also, all these component systems come with a crossover. What is this and what would I do with this when installing in my car? I have installed speakers on my Grand Cherokee before, but I don't know what to expect from this install and am looking for any and all dvice.

I've always been partial to the kappa series
but it really depends upon you listening habits. and I'm not sure about the new kappas, haven't listened to them since I have owned a car with bose (too much work to replace)
here's a link for the crossover definition: <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audio_crossover" target="_blank">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audio_crossover</a>
and I'd also post this in the audio forum, get their opinions.

Ive had bostons and infinity and I currently have Focal in the front.
The Focal speakers are incredible, if installed correctly (proper installation of whatever speaker you choose for the fronts is critical to acheiving good sound) They are on another level then the others you mentioned, imho. Some people do find them overly bright, but Ive heard the new line is much better in this aspect.
They will cost a bit more than the others, but should be well worth the money in the long run.
If you have the opportunity, audition them somewhere and see what you think of them.
Anyone else have good/bad things to say about Focal?
