Bambi versus Audi A6 (WARNING: contains disturbing, graphic images)

Same thing happened to me last fall.
The only good thing is that it's covered by comprehensive and not collision insurance. I got a new hood, grille, headlights, bumper and a bunch of small parts behind the grille. All told, it was just over $3k.
And I didn't even get any venison!
Glad you're ok.

Thanks to all - I knew I could count on AW for tales of other deer encounters
From some of the other deer stories shared, yes, it could have been worse. Of course, if I was driving the wife's battle wagon (Suburban) it probably wouldn't even have hurt it. She hit a 6-pt buck 2 years ago head on - it cracked a piece of plastic behind the bumper and that was it.
Maybe they will let me replace the grill with an S6 one.
Here's what I will be driving until the repairs are done (speaking of battle wagons). Quite a different ride than the A6, but should be more impervious to deer. Anyone need anything from Home Depot?

not me, but the sheriff's deputy field dressed it and threw it on the back of a friends truck
the dispatcher will let them know and they will go pick them up.
Ahhh, life in the country.

That's why I like the city...
no one sees dead animals and thinks "golly...that looks mighty tasty... I thinks I'm gonna cut that there thing up and bring it home to my 22 chillins". There is only one way meat should be brought home...nicely wrapped in butcher paper or a little styrofoam tray with plastic wrap. The more pasteurized, processed, homogenized, irradiated, etc a product is...the better

Even farmers that choked feeling. Like when you butcher 30 chickens and you don't feel like
eating chicken for a month or so. Same goes for cows, pigs, goats, ducks, deer, moose, elk, etc.
Especially me, because I made pets out of all the farm animals until I realized the heartbreak that came in Fall.

you gotta take the bad with the good - at least we don't see dead people on the side of the road
the last murder here was 15 years ago, and everyone said he was a hateful SOB that deserved it anyway.

Dead people on the side of the road? C'mon cities have street sweepers to get rid of them! ;)
I'm sure you're kidding...there are really only a few cities in the U.S. that are really more dangerous than many small towns (Newark, Saint Louis, Atlanta, D.C., and a few others). Surprisingly, despite its ill-informed reputation, NYC is one of the safest large cities in the U.S.
Just for some comparison info:
Murder
Baltimore 1:2100 people per year murdered
D.C. 1:2500
St.Louis 1:2600 (was as bad as 1:900 in 1994)
Chicago 1:4400
NYC 1:12500
and NYC was 23rd of the largest 25 U.S. cities for crime.
Just trying to dispell misconceptions about the greatest city in the world
Now give me some pasteurized, homogenized, irradiated, simulated processed cheese-food!
