brake switch problem?
So, while my wife had the car the last two weeks, it flashed the brake indicator on the dash and beeped at her, of course freaking her out. it was still driving and stopping fine, so I told her it was probably low fluid and I'd take care of it when she got home.
Vag tells me it sees an intermittent signal from the connector, so last night I replaced the brake switch (5.89 from the stealer).
This morning it beeped at me.
Any ideas why? I don't know what to look at next, other than bleeding the brakes and replaciing the fluid...

4d4 is saying ABS control module failure, probably correct.
Best way to check is to try to connect to the ABS module while the light is on. If it will not connect, this is your issue. ABS will not work while this light is illuminated. It starts off as an intermittent problem and becomes more frequent with time.

Re: my car has doe the same on and off 02 s6
no codes my indy over filled the brake fluid ress and its been fine for 2 months.
The word brake and the beep means 2 things as far as i could find out
low fluid
hand brake on
try removing the screen in the ress and fill to the top of the neck its hard to see what the level is with the screen in it .

As 4Driver4 implied, your ABS controller is going south. You options are as follows:
1. Have your friendly local dealer take care of this, with a new controller. This will cost you roughly $1100 - $1200 and you'll be good to go.
2. Invest about an hour and a half of your own time, plus some $225, and install a rebuilt controller that you source from ModuleMaster. Easy fix (I give it a 3 out of 10 on the difficulty scale, with 10 being most difficult), works great.
Since I don't make $800 an hour, I chose the latter option recently and it has worked out great. As an added bonus, Mrs. Grape is much happier in the car now, as well.

"Vag tells me it sees an intermittent signal from the connector" It was the ABS light.
Not said, but it had to be. The other code is that it beeped. IIRC, the ABS beeps a warning too.
Speculation.
