I know the dealers just want to sell cars but throwing cars like this on eBay is counter-productive
All it does is undermine the value of a new car. People don't go to eBay looking for non-bargains. It makes no sense. Therefore, they are going to get discount pricing on what should be par pricing product.
Sure, maybe they have either excess supply in their area or excess demand for that matter. Simply by virtue of throwing it on eBay they will pressure their own pricing. Very few "new" cars sell at a premium on eBay. Those that do are usually "bling-bling" cars(I apologize for the reference but it fits). The S6 follows the Audi design edict to build discreet barn burners with the "S" badge. On top of that, its not rare enough worldwide to be considered an immediate collectible. The combination of factors drives bids to the lower end of the spectrum. It makes no sense to sell "new" cars in this manner unless you are working with volume.
Maybe these dealers suffer from self loathing and at the same time are trying to undermine their own parent. Maybe they are the "dysfunctional" children in the dealer network. Maybe I should just mind my own business and worry about things that are within my purview.
