bye bye, chrome trunk lid strip

I debadged the car and decided to black out the chrome strip at the bottom of the trunk lid too (using "black out tape", available at pep boys or wherever). It was initially intended as a temporary thing, just to see what it would look like, but it turned out pretty well so I think I may leave it this way. It took 3 attempts before I got it perfect...no wrinkles, bubbles etc. I'd love to do the chrome around the side windows too, but it would be a bitch to get it right.
Has anyone physically removed this chrome strip? If so, can it be done w/o damaging the paint or having to fill in holes? I was tempted to pop it off, but wasn't sure I'd like what I found underneath it...

Looks nice!
Especially on the Cashmere Grey...sort of matches the license plate surround. That is the one identifying feature for me to tell it's an A6 from a distance. I hope you haven't started a trend :-)

Has anyone removed the chrome strips around with windows? (more)
I have a black A6 with tinted windows and I would like to "black out" the trim around the windows. Can the trim be removed with ease? I found some black trim moulding that clips on to exterior trim in black at J.C. Whitney...costs $10.00 for a 20 foot roll......anyone try that?
