Default Cam seal leak: pathetic

I have a 2003 a6 2.7t and with only 39,000 miles the cam seals have already started to leak. I must say this has proven to be the worst car I have ever owned. My last bmw went 260,000 miles and only burned a slight bit of oil for the last 30,000. In 39k miles I have had to replace all pads and rotors, numerous electrical parts, the valve cover gaskets, and a motor mount. I can't wait to sell this car and get another bmw.

Default Re: For you:

I am just noting that it is absolutely ridiculous to have 2 major oil leaks on a car within the first 40,000 miles. Luckily the first was covered under warranty, but audi refuses to offer any help with this second leak other than offering to fix it for $1200. Obviously I will not be taking them up on this offer. I guess some people think it is okay to drive around in a fifty thousand dollar luxury sedan that reaks of burning oil. It is also inexcusable that audi won't step up and fix this problem for free and admit that it is a common issue. My friend has an acura with a known transmission issue and honda manned up and did the right thing by extending the warranty to 100k for the issue. why can't audi do the same.

Default I dont want to start an Audi hate threat, but I and a few other people here feel your pain

I am talking specifically about things that have gone bad on my car that wont go bad on even a hyundai or Kia at the same or even double the mileage.
BUT, I still love my car, then again I have never owned a BMW.

Default I'd bet money that the valve cover gaskets were not leaking.

Probably a misdiagnosis or wishful thinking by a lazy tech...or all that Audi would buy.

Not disputing that Audi customer support sucks. I've said it before and I'll say it again:
Audi doesn't care about the customers it already has; all Audi cares about is the new customers. Once you own an Audi, expect nothing.

Regardless, the cam adjuster seals are a common issue and cheaply fixed or DIY. Whining about it contributes nothing.

Default Re: so you didn't read up on these crass before you bought one

I don't know about the reliability of newer bmw's as mine was a 1993. I guess I am more pissed that audi won't step up and repair a known issue on a 4 year old car with under 40k miles. I will be getting a quote from carmax to sell it this week and hopefully I can find a solid replacement that will actually last and not require a total of 11 trips to the dealership for unscheduled maintenence in this short of an amount of time. Maybe I will have to suck it up and just get a new Acura RL. At least then I know I will be getting a reliable vehicle that won't break down on me.

Default It sounds like the problem is more with your dealer than the car.

PS:
If you edit your subject lines the forum reads better.

Default Despite the maintenance required for our C5's I would never buy a BMW

The dealer I bought mine from tried to get me to buy a BMW, took it for a test drive and wasnt happy with the feel. To me Audi's are alot sexier, and convey not only class but taste. Not to say BMW's dont, just dont get the same warm and fuzzy I get from my beloved. She requires attention, but I love to give it to her. Keeps things interesting.
