Default Can the thermometer be calibrated?

New A6, Thermometer reading at least 10 degrees above outside ambient temperature. Can the dealer recalibrate the thermometer?

Does it read high even when the engine is cold, like just after you start the car? If so it will need to be re calibrated or replaced.

Default I think I found the problem!

Thanks bitterman, I didn't know exactly what I was looking for but in front of the radiator there was a round plastic piece connected to some wires which had fallen out of its mounting bracket and was just resting near the radiator. I'll bet this is the temperature sensor and you have helped me solve the problem! I'll see tomorrow when I drive to work. Thanks again.

The temp was about right in my garage by the way EgilA64.2s.

Default See that thing lying on the floor at the bottom of the picture . . . .

Default You rock!

Temp was right on today now that the temp sensor is back mounted in it's bracket.
I hope the quality control is better for the rest of the car!
Thanks again

Default Re: You rock!

I was going to ask the same question. The temperature readings on the dash of my 2.7T S Line seemed absurdly high. I popped the hood and found the sensor dangling loose instead of sitting in its holder. Problem solved. Thanks!

Default actually - that is really important since the ECU might use that to

measure the temp and back off the timing in really hot weather
