Can transmission failure cause a bunch of ECU fault codes?
My car arrived at the shop (flatbed) and they pulled the codes. A whole bunch of ECU codes showed up, including MAF. TCU codes also showed up. The "smart guy" at the shop had not had a chance to look at it, so I don't know the ultimate diagnosis.
The guy who was driving said that it started out as a transmission problem, then it stalled. Is it possible that the transmission problem some how bogged the engine causing all of the other codes? I have a hard time believing that the engine (which was running better than ever) would suddenly toss a bunch of codes.

Re: Yes, GIAC "S" chip. But it ran flawlessly for over a year.
Did they take out the S and put in the stock chip to sell the car? Or selling with the S chip in it? Was just wondering if you switched back to stock chip maybe a bad solder job or bent something.
And my TCU box was working fine wasn't it?
email if easier. or call 626-395-1851

I never went back to a stock chip. ECU untouched. TCU has a tip chip in it, but also...
... has worked fine for over a year.
I've been fooled before, but generally when something major has been replaced (e.g. transmission) then that's probably what went bad (or something nearby).
If it's the ECU, that'll be great, but that's also be at my expense!

I remember I was trying out ECu chips for O.CT, one time I put in the box they sent, it drove fine for about 5 minutes, then started bucking real bad, things flickering in the control panel, finally died as I was pulling into driveway. It died and wouldn't start. Plugged in another ECU and presto it worked fine. But I think it was due to lines of code he had in there holding information. At least thats what we thought.
They sent another box with another chip and it worked fine. The bad box I had bought from Neil(AW himself) LOL.
Keep us posted. Maybe try a differnet ecu and let it sit in the driveway running or drive up and down your street, but not too far cause you may have to push it back : )) and see if it stalls out before looking into tranny issues.
Hope it gets cleaned up so you can part with the car.

MAF failure threw many different codes (see link) so I guess anything is possible.
