CD Changer install; 99 A6q sedan
Before anyone gets upset, yes I have used the search function and I was able to find some great information, but I do still have a couple of questions.
1. Does the Symphony radio need to be programmed to recognize the CD Changer?
2. The installation write up that I found is for a 2000 A6, does anyone know if there were any differences between the '99 and '00 installation procedures? I tend to doubt it, since I have a later build A6 with the Symphony radio, but I just want to be sure.

CD Changer installation guide; 2000 A6 sedan

Re: Install
I just did it a few weeks ago. Took me 15 minutes. Plug and play. See your radio owners manual for instructions on how to play.
Pressing "mode" on the lower right gets you the CD. The "1-6" radio preset buttons control which CD. The tape "Fast Forward" and "Reverse" buttons on the upper right advance and go back on a CD's track.
The unit fits on the shelf under the jack on the left rear trunk compartment. If you found the directions, you know about setting the pointers to horizontal. I didn't take the frame out because I was lazy. Took a bit of fiddling but I was able to get a cap screw in both sides. I think 3 per side go in. But 1 per side will hold it just fine. It's pretty snug even without any screws.
Really is simple.
