Default Chip Poll...

I've ben hearing alot of folks talk about chipping their 2.7t. What are the drawbacks/advantages of chipping? Also, does it void the manufacturers warranty? What chips does everyone have and what kind of numbers do they put up? Do I need to look into another set of tires and wheels to replace the stock ones?

Chip allows more boost usally a mild chip would give you 307HP with 350 to 360 lbs of torque. Yes it will void the warranty if the dealer feels that the chip had anything to do with the problem. Some say there are chip friendly dealers but those would be few and far between. Some people buy an extra ECU with the stock chip so if any problem happens they switch back to stock. Kinda like defrauding?? Numbers I don't know, I don't remember any posts with real actual numbers. Chipping creates more stress and strain on the engine/trans/clutch so parts may wear out faster or TBB's fail more often. I was waiting till I had 4000-5000 miles on the car to iron out any kinks it may have before chipping. I've already been to the dealer 3 times in the first 2 months so hopefully my visits will start to get less frequent! As is I'd be changing the ECU back and forth every 2 weeks!! LOL.
