Q1: Is there a database of codes (ECU) that one can reference easily for the A6 2.7T (2000)?
Q2: The following two codes have been pulled from the ECU; P1423 & P1411. Does anyone know what they reference?

Looks like you have a problem with your secondary air system. Manual says to check vacuum lines, secondary air pump and piping to combi valve.

I continue to 'burn-up' secondary air-pump(s), and/or relay(s) and/or fuse(s). The dealer continues to replace these items, but has not resolved the 'core' problem.
Q1: How important is the secondary air-pump/system to overall vehicle function and/or performance?
Q2: Any ideas for a resolution? I sense the dealer is using this as a means to get my vehicle back to them either for additional work or to check to see if the car has been tuned.
Q3: Is the manual you mention available to me? through Bentley? I'd like to be able to identify and trace the secondary air-pump, combi valve and lines.
Q4: Where can the Bentley site w/ codes be found, ie. web address?

I am not an expert on secondary air pump's purpose or operation, so I think you'll be better off asking an expert.
The manual I refer to is the Bentley manual for the Audi A6, available on CD Rom from Ross-Tech among other places.
At a minimum, you should get this manual and a VAG-COM tool from Ross-Tech if you are serious about tuning or understanding what is going on with your car.
There are complete diagnostic procedures for most issues in the manual, and the VAG-COM tool allows you to check your car just like the dealer does.
