Default Cold Mornings, Right Turns, Brake Light Flashes

2002 A6 Avant.
The wife has a problem with her car, On cold mornings or when making right turns the red "BRAKE" light on the dash flashes and beeps at her. Then after a few minutes it goes away. It may come back periodically through out the drive but is most noticeably associated with right turns.

I scanned the car with the Vag Com a while back but didn't see any error codes with the brake system. My hunch is that one of the wheel speed / ABS sensors is is either dirty or going bad. I.e. when going around a corner the inside wheels move slower than the outside wheels, if a sensor is fouled out then it might give an abnormal reading or think maybe one of the wheels isn't turning. But why also on cold mornings?

I had to do the ABS controller on my A4 last year but the symptoms on her A6 are different. Also, it feels like there is a bad tire in the front as there is a bit of a shimmy at different speeds. I hope its the tire anyway and not a bearing or something. Because of this I plan to rotate the tires front to back soon. What else should I look for or do that might resolve the brake light indicator and the beeping issue. Is it more likely to be the right or left side.

Thanks in advance.

Default Hmm, might check the brake fluid level(?)

I would think a bad (or going bad) wheel speed sensor would yield at least a code...and NOT trigger the red 'BRAKE' light with beeps.

I'll have to double check that. I suppose the brake fluid level sensor could be tripped if the fluid shrinks on cold days or could slosh around when cornering. I don't think it low though I seem to remember checking that when it first happened.

Default Just to confirm, she's getting the red 'BRAKE' light and 3 beeps, right?....

...not the yellow '(0)' symbol in the AutoCheck window?

I could take a glance at the repair manual this weekend for other ideas. Good luck.

I know its not the yellow light. Its definitely the red light that says "Brake". I'm not sure about the beeps though, I think it might be one loud constant beep that lasts a full second or two. I think she must be at lunch because she didn't pick up the phone to confirm.

almost sure then that your brake fluid is low.
