Color change for Xenon Lights
I was going over some older posts and saw that Hella/Audi has changed the color of the Xenon lights from blue to amber.
I love my blue Xenon lights. They illuminate everything beautifully. Has anyone had any experiece with the new amber color? Does the visibility degrade? Will the older blue ones continue to be available in the future?

Re: no change
Not so.....Hella and Audi AG have changed the specs on the xenon lights to an amber tone. I should know because I am driving around in a 4 month old 2001 A6T that had a lens & bulb replaced. Now I have one blue and one amber....looks horrible. Dealer trying to locate a blue one but can't seem to find one. 3 months waiting and getting pissed.
To answer the quewstion....I do notice a difference in performance. The amber one does not illuminate the road as well and the blue. Quite obviuous when you have one of each.

me too
I have one of each also. Thought it was my imagination for a long time. I came to have two because I had a headlight cluster replaced due to vibration. The difference is not visible in the thrown light, only when you look at the two head on. The difference is terribly minor and not visible on-angle. Only at the edges (where you aren't immediately blinded by looking at them).
You'll never find a blue one. There are 4 different shutter rings on the headlamps, and the assemblies all have the same part number. Dealer can't even pick the one they want of those. No way they can select a light color.

Re: me too
I think I understand your circumstance... When I have allowed my spouse to drive the A6 and she is behind me I notice a huge difference while looking the the rear view mirror. Also, if I look at the ground in front of my car with the lights on, I can see the yellow color contrasting the bright white from the other light.
In a call to Hella...they said they can match the original bulb. I have to get audi to call them now.

keep the forum posted
If you can get a blue bulb, I might want one to make my lights match again. Not that it annoys me much, but if it costs only $100 or so to fix it, I might.
I was sure it was the lens assembly not the bulb. Go figure.
