Coolant for 4.2
Hello. I’m new. I have a 4.2 V8 with 190,000. She is such a sexy beast. When I got her two years ago she came with Dexcool 50/50. I want to flush and switch. What is best for my car. I’m reading conflicting info. Is it the lilac g13 I think? Cost isn’t an issue. Also what’s the best full syn high mileage oil for my car? Thanks so much!

There are not nearly as many techies here as a few years ago. However, not to worry, nearly every question has been asked and answered and stored away in the archives. All you need to do is use the search function. Yes, it will take a bit more time to become adept at searching, but odds are the answers are there. And, you do not need to wait days for an answer.
The G13 is what most recommend you use. However, there are some here who have found other coolants that work safely. Maybe Dexcool is one, I do not personally know. I do know that just basic or generic coolant can wreck havoc with your Audi. Try searching here for the best coolant to use.
Regarding synthetic for aging cars you will find nearly as many answers as people commenting. I swear by Redline, but it is also one of the most costly. Few will agree with my choice. I think you will do well if you choose one that is all synthetic and not a blend, and one that is correct for your motor. Look in the manual for the recommended type and weight. Buy a quality oil filter and change it regularly. My frequency is 5000-7000 miles. Again, search here for best synthetic oil and filter to use.

Amy, if you're going to switch coolants, it's critical the system is purged of Dexkill.
The current coolant is G13. Can be found at Advance Auto Parts, NAPA, and on-line.
The car requires an oil meeting VAG spec 502.00.

Mobil 1 full synthetic. They have a version for European cars. I used to use the 0W20 full synthetic Mobil 1 and changed oil and filter every 10,000 miles
