Coolant change
OK I need to change my coolant and need to know the do's and dont's. First of all what type of coolant do I use (2001 A6 Avant 2.8 Quattro). Also is there any other parts clamps, hoses, etc. that need to be changed when doing this? One more how much coolant do I put in (50% coolant, 50% water?)

G12 (pink colour) coolant only. Use 50/50 with distilled water.
No special clamps or tools needed unless you plan to replace hoses (probably not necessary yet on an '01), thermostat, etc.
There is a drain plug on the bottom of the radiator, but you might have to remove the bumper to get to it. Alternatively, you can just pull the lower hose. This won't drain the block, however.
Also check Stoney's links, below. Your leak might be due to the expansion tank, which is a known weak spot. There is good info there about replacement.

http://sonolithics.com/files/a6_links.html</a
