Diagnosing lock problem
Using key in drivers door stopped turning off the alarm system and opening other door locks. Then The electronic function did not work. I figured it was the battery. Changed the battery but (and here is a dumbness) to make sure I got the battery in correctly I looked at the other key which has essentially been unused. And the battery came out.
New battery in original key did not make electronic opener work. Of course neither would the other key. Can not resync the keys because you have to open the driver door with the key in the process and it no longer seems to be talking to the car electrically. I have been using the trunk key lock to lock and unlock doors.
My guess is one of two things. Bad switch in the door or problem wherever the signal from the door is processed. My electronic copy of the manual is unavailable. Can anyone provide me with a diagnostic approach and the location of the electronics that see the door key switch. And how to open the door panel to get at the switch would be a real help.
But anyway doesn't matter . I don't understand why your two mechanical keys don't open the door. When I got my car both batteries were long dead and neither were synched ot the car . I got new batteries and resynched them both no problem .
Noe on to your problem .... If oyu have a wiring harness problem don't forget that wiring harness to the trunk , That thing is notorious for shrting and breaking with the flex from the trunk opening anf closing, keep an eye on that.
The hatch lock will turn off the alarm and open the rest of the locks in the car by turning it twice.
The driver door lock will unlock only the drivers door and not deactivate the alarm.
I just had that whole lock apart on the inside of the door and there is no switch there .. so it must be something else .. you are absolutely correct that you turn the key and it stops blinking . so how is the questio .. back to the pet for a look .. maybe someone will chime in .. I know my Audi 90 is vacuum but maybe this is different.
