Diagnostic: 17862 on 2.7t

Diagnostic: 17862 on 2.7t
Check engine light comes and goes. Plugged it into a Matco and got "17862: Exhaust gas temperature sensor 1". Friend said it could be gas burning up in my catalytic conv. and maybe cause I'm using 92 octane. Sounds like a long shot to me. What do you guys think?

I also looked in the Ross-tech wiki, but I could not find that DTC. Weird.
Anyway, here is the Bentley test procedure to check your EGTs.
