Default DOH! I pushed rear license screw retaining nut/clip into trunk's black hole.
I was installing new Audi license plate frame (polished black with quattro....very nice). Is recovery as simple as removing trunk liner or more complicated than that. Thanks from an (obviously) mechanically-challenged colleague.

I believe there is a TSB that tells how to fix this.
