Drivers Side Rear Window Issue
Hello and thanks in advance!
I've got a 2004 A6, and my rear window seems to get stuck in operation. A year and a half ago I had the windows open in a hot parking garage but had to close them when I reached cold winter air. As I went to close the said rear window it moved very slowly and stopped half way then went back down. It took two people pushing the glass up while someone operated the switch to close it. I've avoided using the window since then.
Fast forward to a week ago I accidentally put that window down again, and it struggled to go up but made it (still slowly). Does anyone know what may be wrong? I'm hoping I can just tear open the door and lube up the mechanism. If so how easy of a job is it?

There are several old threads (search for them) discussing this somewhat common issue. Could be the guides need to be cleaned and lubed, or it could be the window clips that attach the glass to the mechanism have broken. I would take the inside door panel off (search) and look carefully at the guides and clips. If you cannot do this soon then I would at least take off the panel and disconnect the power to the window. Continuing to open the window can quickly complicate the repair. I know it was a mistake, but removing the door panel only takes a few minutes.
