hey i was wondering if anyone could help me out, my drivers side window rolls down fine but has problems going back up. It rolls up half way and then goes back down, sometimes even less than that. I have already replaced the master window switch and that didnt solve it. i have lubricated the rails and that only worked for a few days. Does anyone know if it is the motor or the regulator which i hear is a common problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

Check the window guides, one is probably broken. Lots of posts in the archives.

You need to dismantle the complete door to fix it but it not as bad as it sounds. Buy the new guide clip first from the dealer.

What happens is the cable that lifts and lowers the windows has a nipple swaged onto it. This nipple fits into the guide clip, transferring the movement to the glass. The top part of the clip breaks away so that it no longer allows the glass to be pulled up by the rear cable, only the front one. The glass then baulks backwards and sticks.

The complete windows frame can be easily removed then with the glass out, the clip can be replaced. The whole job takes about ½ an hour.
