Default ECU reprogram -rough running when cold - partial update (long)

A while back I posted a question about very rough running engine for the first 100 yards with Sunnoco 93 octane in cold weather (2000-2.7T). Dealer recommended that brand and octane to improve hot engine, rough idle problem. 87 octane reduced the cold weather problem but was not an acceptable solution (lower engine power and would make idle worse on warmer days). Dealer sent my ECU to Audi for reprograming, said other customer they had with this problem had total fix. I just picked up car and will report results (if we get some more cold mornings).

Most interested in results, as I may have this done soon (though I refused to let them have my car just sit there for a few days, so they are actually reprogramming a new ECU to swap). Would be interested in what the actual reprogramming IS too, as the dealer and district service rep do not know.

Default Ask about code revision on ECU...

My '00 2.7T had 0003 and when ECU died, it was replaced with 0005. I believe 0005 is the latest for '00 at least.

Default Afternoon Mike - How's the car ?

Hope things are well - and that you're enjoying driving in new snow every damn weekend....

My car runs rough but only if I forget not to step on the pedal while starting..... hard switching form my 74 Landcruiser "betta" sometimes....

Hey Eric,

The car is awesome... just a few more miles to 5000. It really seems to be loosening up quite nicely.

Haven't started mods yet. I think I'll be heading to the Audi Summer event in MA and hopefully get the shortshifter installed. That's number 1. I'm also looking at 17" rims and some new rubber. Looking for something light. The Goodyears don't cut the mustard.

Do you mash the pedal before you start the car?

Thanks,
Mike
