Engine Noises

Interested to know if anyone has engine noises other than normal operation. e.g my oil is low so I'm hearing the lifters going. For anyone that knows that sound it increases with the engine revs. I also have another sound that I can't ID. It's like a shhh shhh shhh shhhh sound that is in rythm with the engine revs and increases with engine rpm. I dunno, I know this is a strech but....... with Audi's stand to reason someone has this. I pulled up to a porche one time and heard a similar sound so maybe it's normal.

Just sounds like either serpentine belt or cam belt to me. Quite normal for serpentine but get......

the cam belt checked/chnaged depending on mileage.

I actually finnished the TB job on friday.....

I was hearing the noise before I changed the belts pulleys etc. Well this weekend I'll do the oil change and see what happens.

Similar Experience (Updated 6/21/05)

I just had my oil changed and now hear what I think is valve noise between 3,700 - 4,300 rpm. I took the car back to my mechanic swearing I had never heard this noise before.

He test drove the car, and mentioned a possible problem with my Intake Manifold Changeover Valve or "Shift Rod". He is currently investigating this issue, presumably at audiworld.com.

I'll update this post when I find out more.
