I'm ready to buy, but can't entice a seller! Maybe Monday will bring better luck.
G'night.

I didn't mind them at first when I bought the car, but they slowly drove me insane. Oh well..to each their own I guess

Actually, I think they're waaaay better than generic looking, run of the mill 5-spoke sport wheels
Pie plates appear more classy, luxuriuos if you will.
The sport wheel (just by comparison) is just an improved 5-spoke wheel that Audi started using with 96+ A4.
Nothing spectacular, those wheels are on everything these days, including Chevy Impala SS, Cobalt SS, and whatever else.

Okay - I half expected some comment here. Pies offer OEM look and a strong
alternative for winter use. I never minded them on the 4.2. For a few years I had a dedicated 16" snow set. Now I have 17" rubber that I ran on my OEM Avus. I figured with a flood of Plates on the market at good prices, it's time for a new/used dedicated winter set. (I'm also somewhat cost conscious.)
Sure, I would prefer the Fat Fives of all the OEM wheels, but they're few and far between and pretty costly still. All the OEM wheels are relatively heavy, but our roads here merit extra strength and solidity - for now, anyway, as our governor managed to pull ahead huge amounts of public works road reconstruction and much of my route is or will be reworked in an attempt to help MI's unbelievably terrible economy (it probably only helps a few super large road contractors), but I digress.
The alternative is dedicate the Avus for snow, and they're looking a bit rough and ready for winter only use, but I won't spend big bucks and seem unable to decide on the look I want for summer wheels. My issues.
There's my confession. A secret pie plate and fat five lover.
MP4.2, I'm in metro detroit.
