I have a failed G236 sensor - bank 2 and I have found a couple of new RS6 EGT sensors - part No. 077 919 529 D & E at a very good price - I am wondering if anyone has any idea if they can be fitted to my 2.7t and if the sensors are the same - just the cable length being different - the plugs are the same brown or black as far as I can tell.

Yes, I think that is the part number I should really just go out and buy but at a lot less than half price, these seem such a bargain - if they will work, it is hard to pass it by.
Unfortunatley, there is very little info about the EGT's. I am suuming that as they only play a small part in mixture control as the primary o2 sensor is mainly used for EGT sensing as well as mixture control and that in many ways the RS6 engine is similar to the 2.7, then they are probably the same with longer cables.
My guess is that the temperature ranges the RS6 wil run with are within the same range as the 2.7 so the sensor will do the same job - the problem is how to confirm that?

on the A6 2.7 both sides use the same D part #. The G part # for S4`s are a shorter length. Not sure why the Rs6 had different letters.

Do you know if the RS6 sensors are actually the same just with different cable lengths?

Don't be so afraid to call a dealership or two and ask for an opinion...they might advise against the idea as they get mad anytime you start switching things up - but they should at least tell you if the two sensors are compatible with one another.

I have tried that but the simply get rather frustrated - they can only recommend the correct part number which is 3x the price.
