Extended Warranty (X-Post w/ 2.7T forum)
I am looking to purchase an A6 2.7T and debating the value of a CPO vehicle. Has anyone had any experience w/ extended warranty companies and chipped cars? I'm wondering if an extended warranty from a 3rd party is any more or less likely to honor a claim for a chipped car?

Re: Extended Warranty are a gamble...some will treat you right....most will take your $2,500 and go
many many horror stories about extended warrenty companies just closiung doors and leaviing people high and dry, and out a lot of money.

Treat you right?? Who is treating who right when you want to cheat an insurance....
company by hiding a chip?? Unless there is something that I have missed, there is no such thing as a chipped warranty. You gotta pay to play...

That happened to me w/ my current A4
I wasn't too pissed, because it happened on the second claim I had w/ them. Just after my factory warranty expired, the water pump failed, causing the timing belt to be ruined. The warranty company covered everything (not w/o a fight), pretty much paid for itself right then and there. About a year later, I had a fuel injector go bad. Audi said I couldn't just replace one, but had to replace all six due to a design change. That's when the dealer called me to tell me that the warranty company no longer existed.

I'm not trying to cheat anyone here.
We talk all the time about dealers that will and will not do things for their customers, VAG coding, warranty work, etc. All I was asking is, does anyone know of 3rd party warranty companies that are more understanding of chipping? From what I understand, by the law, the burden is on the warrranty company to prove that the modification caused a failure that wouldn't be covered. However, it seems that more often, the story seems to be, if it's chipped, that broke it. I'm just trying to weigh my options.

I've not seen any aftermarket warranties that will cover mods. Just wanted to be clear that most
consider any mod, including chip, to be a non-covered item and thus the entire driveline warranty would be voided by using a chip. The problem is that the warranty company can estimate their likely outlay based on stock vehicles; with non-stock the sky is the limit and insurance companies like to be able to lock-in a profit margin. Didn't mean to insinuate you would try to pull a fast one - just wanted to make clear that it was bad if you tried to make a claim w/o divulging the chip.
