Beg to differ. With enough money, almost anything is possible
technically it is not impossible. All it will take is time and a lot of body work. Just not worth it. Then there is the problem of fitting new wheels and tires which would look good in there.

How much do you think the metal stretches?
OK, technically it might be wider, but we're talking fractions of an inch or millimetres since you're up north.
Rolling is used to bend (not stretch) the inside of a fender, where the sheet metal is folded over. Do you really believe that one can make flares where they don't exist by pushing the metal out (and not completely deforming it -- just to make sure we don't get caught up in semantics)?

This is where it gets tricky.
You can do the roll to start the stretch but for a 4.2 look you will have to do some body work to get it to look great.
In the end you may be better off by having a shop fabricate some panel add ones and do some cutting and welding. Then fill, grind, fill, grind, prime and paint to get a real new look.
Most people just do a simple fender roll to get a bit more tire clearance but if you want a complete job there is no getting away with a simple job.
You are right say that rolling will only have a small effect on the look of the car. Taking it to the limit a bit more work is needed :-)
That is why I said it would not be cheap. Just having it rolled a bit is not expensive. But, as you said does not do much for looks.

Don't know if you're agreeing, or disagreeing.
Sorry if I'm a bit persnickity tonight, but there's no "trick" to it. Either it makes a fender wider (i.e. flares, which was the intent of the question), or it doesn't. I mean, if I gotta cut, fab and weld, what's the point of rolling?
This thing just isn't going to do much. And what about the paint? That grows, too?<ul><li><a href="http://www.tirerack.com/a.jsp?a=AR4&url=%2Faccessories%2Ftools%2Ffende rlip.jsp">http://www.tirerack.com/accessories/tools/fenderlip.jsp</a></li></ul>
