ultimatly, the debate about if it will hurt the engine is not the point, to me
the point is that the knock sesnor will dial the timing back so far, that the car will feel as slow as a 2.8.
So the extra $$ for my right foot would be the answer

Never! And further to that, how many....
use what I refer to as "second rate" gas? I'll only use Mobil, Shell or Amoco. Don't trust convenience store gas or Cheker, or even Citgo much less the independent shops.
