For fog light mod,do I order super white or platinum white bulbs?
#2
There are two versions of PIAA brand bulbs, can't remember nomenclature...
One version is fairly white and the other is even a hint blue. The latter has a coating that is more opaque to the eye, not translucent (I assume it maiy be less bright due to this).
I used the bluer ones (all the store had). It appears actually just a hint bluer than the Xenons from up close; haven't tested from far away.
The less-blue version might be a bit brighter and probably is a bit yellower than the Xenons.
So with one a bit yellower than Xenons, another a bit bluer, its up to you to pick which side to err on.

I believe the choice is either,
"Platinum Super White", which I'd recommend
"Super Plasma", which is bluish and terrible in rain, let alone fog.

Agree, Xtreme white should be best; here are PIAA bulb types...
But I already installed Plasma bulbs. Here are some guides to PIAA bulbs.
* Super white is whiter than normal
* Xtreme white is closest to Xenon
* Plasma blue is a bit too blue (but, to someone viewing Xenons off-axis, the Xenons look too blue also).

normal beams face down for a reason
Fogs face forward, this is why they work as fog lamps in the first place. And even if you point them slightly down, when the car hits a bump they rise much more than regular lamps.
This is because they are at a lower angle. Since they are one foot off the road instead of two, if you point them forward enough to cover, say, 15 feet away, the fog is point downward maybe 4 degrees where the headlamp is down maybe 15 or so. So if you hit a 4 degree bump you flash people with your Xenon fogs where you wouldn't have with your low beams.
Furthermore, Xenon conversions are far from "the real thing". They are a gas capsule lamp in a filament reflector housing. No shutter either of course.
