Foglight Problems
I am a legal assistant for a criminal defense attorney- our client was pulled over because of the rear fog lights. Has anyone ever encountered a problem with those? Thanks.

Unless a very recent model Audi, only the driver side rear fog light should function.
Throughout much of Europe, this is standard. It makes it easy to differentiate from the brake lights. Also, under extreme conditions where visability is limited, it helps following drivers determine how far the car is sticking out in relation to that fog light, should they need to pass or avoid you. If the car had 2 lights and one was obstructed, it would mislead following drivers. So only one is used.
Often in markets with right hand drive cars, the rear fog light is reversed to be on the other side of the car.
This is why an Audi looks like it should have two fog lights, but only one lights up.
Hopefully that answers the question.

And if it is because only one was lit, suggest looking at the owner's manual. It's explained.
I'm no lawyer, but it seems to me that if the car was configured and sold that way it certainly met DOT and local regulations, no?

because of fog light what ??? fog lights on or offf in fogy day ... fog lights on or off in normal
day there is a big difference. You can be pulled over if you have a your fog lights on in non fogy day ........... but i don't think cop will stop anyone for just fog lights ,there was something else unless your in Europe there is a tuff law about it. Even over winter you have to have your lights on !!! For safty.
