Default no,BOV and Bypass Valves are different

However, both the stock item and the Baileys and Forges are Bypass Valves, not BOVs.

IMHO, if they are working, don't replace them. Latest talk amongst those who know (or at least say they do) is that piston-type BPVs require more maintenance than diaphragms anyway.

Use search function a bunch for more info.

Default Forge and Bailey are merely different brands of Bypass valves, not BOV.

the original factory Bosch bypass valves were crappy, which is why people buy others. there is since a newer/better factory/Bosch replacement that seems to work perfectly fine.

blow-off valves are significantly different, in that they vent boost directly to atmosphere rather than 'recycling' the air within the system. the only advantages of BOV's are 1. plumbing simplicity (why they are used in race cars), 2. they make a 'pssst' sound which some morons think is somehow impressive to pedestrians.

BOV's can be problematic if they vent metered air causing the computer to have an incorrect measurement - depends on application, don't know about 2.7T, but with all the BPV plumbing in place, why BOV unless you're a moron?

neither one will give you any more power than a perfectly functioning stock configuration, but if the stock one fails it can cause a loss of boost and/or poor responsiveness. the updated factory part seems to be working perfectly for most people. the main advange of Forge/Bailey/etc. is shiny and cool looking and (i think?) rebuildable.

Default didn't say that exactly. first, i didn't use the word 'complete'. second...

in situations like a full home grown / one-off turbo setup or full on race motor it's simpler and sensible. but 'in my opinion' with a stock or near-stock setup with all the plumbing in place and then potential metering problems... oh gee, i said all this before.

so you enjoy your BOV then?
