Front o2 sensors on a 2001 A6 2.7T TIP
Are the Audi one's the same as any of the one's sold by VW.......... that may be cheaper cost wise (even thought the same part)??? I know there's some x-over between Audi and VW parts (surprise-surprise). Has anyone looked into this for the 2.7T o2 sensors??

The equivalent VW sensors are part # 06a 906 262q. Prices for these jumped substantially a few months ago, but they're still cheaper than the Audi ones. The connector plugs are different, though. You can either switch the connector from your old sensor to the new one (by soldering wires somewhere between the plug and the sensor -- I'd be surprised if you could successfully dismantle a connector plug without destroying it in the process), or get an Audi plug, part # 3a0 973 334 and install it, making sure that the wires correspond to the arrangement on both plugs (there are four wires and each is numbered in the respective the plastic housing). Check the archive -- there's a pile of comments on O2 sensors and installation.
