Getting behind the radio?
My recently purchased 2000 A6 4.2 has a Pioneer AVIC-D1 NAV system installed in replacement of the OEM Stereo. I have purchased a Pioneer Ipod adapter and I need to get behind the NAV system to plug in the adapter cables. I have removed the NAV unit, but in doing so, the speaker connector pulled out of the socket... and the speaker cables are very short, thus they will not pull come forward enough to plug them in with the NAV unit out. Therefore I need to get behind the NAV unit with to put that cable back in, with the unit half way pushed into its slot.
What would be the best way of getting a hand in behind the unit?
Thanks,
Brent.

Yes, you are exactly correct, the speaker cable was tangled with some other cables. A little re-routing and it was "JUST" long enough to plug in with the unit out of the mounting slot. However, the trick was the FM antenna connector, it was quite a bit short... So I ended up going to Canadian Tire and getting a 2' extension cable for the antenna (although I only needed a few inches). So now it has plenty of extra cable!
Unfortunately, I couldn't figure out how to route the iPod IBus cable from the glove box into the back of the NAV unit. Also it needs a full time 12volt connection. Therefore I put it all back together, everything still working well. Will need to find a way to get some of the paneling removed to get access in behind there or just get a professional installer to put that iPod adapter in!
Thanks,
Brent.
