Has anybody done dyno testing to confirm that aftermarket air filters actually work?
I've seen conflicting opinions regarding whether air filters, such as K&N, or systems, such as the S-Flow, even work. Has anybody done any actual independent testing to see if they do work?

the only thing better about the K&N is its reusable and cuts down on waste.

Many years ago on my Saab 9000 I put a K&N filter on the car, at first
I loved it. With the Saab's one large turbo, it did seem to spool up faster. Then I received my oil analysis with the next oil change from Blackstone Laboratories. My silica (dirt) content had like tripled. The filter clearly does not filter out nearly as much dirt as my generic walmart filter that was on there before.

My '99 GS400 w/FIPK and L-Tuned Exhaust went from 22MPG to 25 MPG .
It got noticeably faster as well as it was engineered for quiet. When you got into it the L-Tuned exhaust roared and the K&N FIPK intake made a huge whoosh as it gulped air. The big difference from what I researched about the A6 is that the stock box is good as it is.
