Has anyone had the Passport SR1 installed in their Audi?
Saw the ad for it in Sports Car International last night. According to the ad, it must be installed at one of about 12 car audio installers listed (some are multi-state chains).
It purports to be a forward and rear radar/laser detector. The control unit looks very subtle.
Any experiences?

Yes. (long) Installed in May '00. It doesn't have a direction arrow
like the V1. It works fine.
I live in NYC and drive around alot in the tri-state area for business. I opted for the SR-1 just so I wouldn't have to put up and take down the detector several times during the day. Also, I didn't want to attract thieves by there being marks on the windshield. I also wanted to avoid people on the road who follow vehicles with a radar detector. The unit is installed on the inside of my lower front bumper and above the rear license plate. The control unit is at the center of my dash. The unit was installed by a store run by Tweeter in south NJ.
Regarding performance, the unit works fine. I have been happy with the units ability to warn me about police hiding at the side of the road in local towns and many times on the highways. Regarding falsies, you will get them from the supermarket doors.
Without the directional arrow, you have to develop a technique and judgement on where you think the radar is coming from. It's generally not to hard to figure out as I used to have an escort. Like alot of drivers on the forum, I'm scanning the road constantly, but instant-on can't help any of us.
I bought the SR1 unit for the clean look, anti-theft deterrence, and ease of use on a daily basis.
The V1 is the dectector of choice on the forum and I agree, but went with the SR1 because for my uses, the V1 can't be easily concealed.
