Headlight washer cap quick fix

Headlight washer cap quick fix
I had a new headlight washer cap put on my A6 this morning (it blew off last week on my drive home from work). The dealership service dept. showed me their quick fix for ensuring that the cap doesn't blow off again. They wrap a plastic tie (one of those cheap ones that cinches up nice and tight) around the base of the cap where it attaches to the washer head. I also had them put one of those ties on the cap that didn't blow off last week. Hopefully their solution will prevent this very annoying problem from happening again.

Nice to see some annoying things can be fixed by plain old common sense! Thanks for the heads up on this--I think I'll do that when mine finally comes in, so they WON'T blow off. Seems to be a common problem.

How did they access the base of the cap to apply the tie wrap?
Did they do it from the engine compartment or from the underside
of the front bumper? Thanks for the info.

Neither. It looked like they just pulled the washer up by hand and used a screwdriver (or similar tool) to anchor it in the "up" position while they applied the tie. After putting on the tie, they used wire cutters to cut the excess plastic off the tie. Whallah, all fixed.
