Help me keep my rings, what would you do?
I have an 2001.5 A6 2.7T MT sport/winter pack...amazing car...with 45k miles. I bought in Jan. of 2005 and financed it out 60 months. It has an ext. warranty good for 4 yr/45K miles from now.
I'm now heading to Law School in the fall, and would like NO SURPRISES car-wise for the next 4 years or so. So I'm questioning wether keeping this car for the next 4 years (I'll be putting aprox. 18K miles a year on the car) is a good idea or if it'd be better to get an 2005 Outback Legacy sedan GT w/ 30K miles. My monthly payments would be about $50 cheaper per month on the Legacy and dependability-wise the numbers show Subaru takes the cake.
How dependable are our cars? I change oil every 5K synthetic only, always war up and cool down turbos, etc...never abused. I love the car but don't want to end up in a bind with unexpected repairs.
BTW, if anyone is interested I need $20K for the A6.

Changing A6 vs Outback for $50 in savings??! Sounds a lil crazy...
...I wouldn't say Subaru is THAT much more reliable/cheaper in repairs! They got boxer engine(not easy on wallet in repairs...). You have MT(i'm TIP), i would say with an MT you good(not as expensive as TIP! Waaay less), as long as you dont abuse it. Just dont do STAGE 3 or something stupid, if you want to keep reliability...
Im actually looking to get, trade, buy...w/e...the same C5 (or newer) w/6sp MT, instead of my 80k TIP. Don't want to deal with it later, plus you get fun, acceleration, more options on the road(driving-wise), etc...... On the other hand, a Luxury car is suppose to be Luxury. Want sports car? STI, EVO, 330Ci, TT... You can make A6 fast, but think about how much reliability drops...?!
If you want cheap reliability...Sentra, Camry, Accord, Civic...u know the list.
Good luck
